Clearing YOUR Path
On the path to your ideal life, there may be many growth opportunities and I’ve have been down…oh, pretty much all of them personally either directly or indirectly.
When you understand that any outcome you experience is directly related to your response to an event rather than the event itself it’s easier to clear away your chosen path.
I believe the PATH to your ideal life is pretty simple. Note: not necessarily easy!
You start out with positive choices. Nearly everything we do or think is a choice that, while set in motion either in a distant past or recently, we can change.
We can change our thoughts and our actions…even those that we have been taught are involuntary. We know about reflexes and understand that involuntary reflexes generally happen without any conscious effort but imagine if you were walking and injured your knee. How long could you keep going? What if you fractured your knee cap? What about then? The story of Shun Fujimoto, Retired Japanese Gold Medal Gymnast, might give one pause to reconsider. It did me. After breaking his knee in the during the 1976 Montreal Winter Olympics Floor Routine he continued to compete in the Pommel Horse event and finally the Rings where the only indication would be the slight wobble in his dismount in his dismount his perseverance and performance aided the Japanese Olympic Team in their achievement of the Gold Medal. You can see his performance in the video below.
In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Once we make the choice (mental action) we then take the physical action. Sometimes these are barely discernable as two separate events. Regardless of the time separation, nothing happens until action is taken so to achieve your ideal life or goals, get moving and take action. It may be a phone call, a conversation, asking for assistance or information or some other, more physical endeavor, whatever it is – DO SOMETHING!
Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen… yourself, right now, right down here on Earth. ~ Bradley Whitford
With those two steps supporting your journey, the third element that is important to incorporate is a healthy dose of thankfulness. Adopting that “attitude of gratitude” puts us in the mindset to look for, and be open to the possibilities. The good that God or the Universe has to offer. It is all around us but too often, fear, anger, worry, hurt, all the negative responses to events, block us from experiencing it. Maintaining the “thankful heart” will help to ensure that you are always giving your best as well as receiving the same.
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse. ~ Henry Van Dyke
Finally, the last element is “honor“. With honor, you bring in many elements that create that ideal life! When you have honor, you have personal integrity, respect, dignity, reputation, privilege, admiration, promise, and the far-reaching effects of each of these elements. Honor is like a giant tree whose branches spread seem to continue in a never-ending tapestry of beauty and life.
Honor is the inner garment of the Soul; the first thing put on by it with the flesh, and the last it layeth down at its separation from it. ~ Akhenaton
